Hello. That's difficult to diagnose, the file (simac.dmg) downloads fine on our side. Assuming you're using Safari, try alt-clicking on the button (or right-clicking on it and picking 'Download linked file as...') and setting the destination manually.

Info on OS X for update versions

Many of the "updates" that are notified are for later versions of OS X than I have installed. Would it be possible to match update versions to installed OS X? Due to hardware limitations, I cannot upgrade to the latest OS X (Mountain Lion).

We're considering implementing this, indeed. I can't give you an ETA at the moment, but this feature has been on the table for a while, and we've already done a number of back-end changes to help our app recognise OS-specific versions and links.

I've voted in favour of the idea myself, just in case.

Mac Informer shows wrong version

I have two users installed, 1 Admin, 1 Standard with no admin rights (under OS X 10.7.5). I normally work with the Standard user. For program-updates I change to the admin user. The applications folder is on the top level, giving all users access...

Why are some 'Update' labels in grey?

I could not find a "Help" or "FAQ" about the Mac Informer App so my apologies if this is explained somewhere.

These are apps whose download link refers to an older version and not the newest update (if you click on any of them, you'll see that it asks you to share the new download link if you know one).

This is not always a bug or an oversight, some apps are actually expected to be greyed out: for example, paid software usually offers you a demo/trial download that doesn't necessarily work as an update. In these cases, the Mac Informer app simply hints that an update exists and you should try checking for updates from within the app in question itself.

These grey labels will be scrapped in one of the newer versions of Mac Informer altogether, they're not all that useful anyway.

Although Mac Informer correctly identified that AppTrap.prefPane needed to be updated from 1.1.6 to 1.1.7, the version automatically downloaded was 1.1.5

This is the first update I have done so I don't know if this is a common problem. It was easily corrected by visiting AppTrap website but it was just luck that I noticed as I had not expected there to be a problem.

Cheers for the heads-up, we've fixed that.

It shouldn't be a common problem, as most of these links are checked manually. It's likely a human error: someone must have picked a wrong download link from the AppTrap website (there are three of those up there).
